What is an energy crop?
An energy crop is a plant grown as a low cost and low maintenance harvest used to make biofuels, or directly used for its energy content. Commercial energy crops are densely planted, high yielding crop species where the crops will be used to generate power.
 

What are the types of energy crops?

Dedicated energy crops are non-food energy crops such as switchgrass, woody crops (short rotation poplars and willows), miscanthus, corn and soybeans.

 

What types of energy can energy crops be converted to?
Heat, electricity, chemicals, biofuels or liquid chemicals.
